Genre's of my Project Proposal
- Taylor Swift is an accountant analyst that works for Comcast, a media resource for healthcare companies. I found her on Linkedin,
and then proceeded to research the website to make sure it was
something that I'd consider a good fit for my future career.
- Name of genre: Healthcare news
- Author’s purpose/goal: To inform the general public with information about their healthcare.
- Intended/primary audience: I think this news would be for everybody because healthcare is important for the entire country.
- Wider/secondary audience (if applicable): People trying to reform healthcare
- Context/”rhetorical situation” surrounding this text: Could possibly inform the public about a new technology that can cure a disease, or if something changed with Obamacare.
- Surface-level conventions: Proper grammar, positive wording.
- Content/information that’s included: Updates on the world of health. Things like Obamacare and its current status in the United States.
- Organization/structure: Online articles, sections in a newspaper, magazine ads
- Affordances: Able to keep the public up to date.
- Constraints: Most likely very broad because it has to communicate with a lot of people and make sure they understand what they're reading. A variety of people can post articles about this, so information may get confused between readers.
- Name of genre: Company Advertisement drafts
- Author’s purpose/goal: Purpose is to see how effectively their message will influence their intended audience.
- Intended/primary audience: People not very interested in the healthcare world. Maybe young adults that don't see the significance in it.
- Wider/secondary audience (if applicable): People interested in healthcare.
- Context/”rhetorical situation” surrounding this text: An ad that's mentioning what the world would be like without healthcare.
- Surface-level conventions: Proper grammar, Sympathetic wording. If a commercial, sad music.
- Content/information that’s included: What healthcare does, and why you should work with whatever company that's being advertisement.
- Organization/structure: Pictures showing healthcare with the organization at the bottom or top, commercials showing a situation with healthcare fixing it afterwards.
- Affordances: Gets the healthcare brand out to the public
- Constraints: Costs money to do, with the returns not being guaranteed.
- Name of genre: Emails to graphic design/the advertisement section.
- Author’s purpose/goal: To show the team what's effective and what's not as effective when creating an advertisement
- Intended/primary audience: Her co-workers that deal with advertising the healthcare products.
- Wider/secondary audience (if applicable): The entire work building.
- Context/”rhetorical situation” surrounding this text: Sending information to the team about how well their latest advertisement has done compared to others in the past
- Surface-level conventions: Proper grammar, salutations, formal wording.
- Content/information that’s included: The statistics of the advertising going on.
- Organization/structure: "Dear …, Here's the data on the recent advertisement that we've put out... Sincerely....,
- Affordances: Informs the team on important information
- Constraints: None
- Name of genre: Social Media Tweets
- Author’s purpose/goal: To interact with the public and gain a favorable reputation
- Intended/primary audience: People on social media
- Wider/secondary audience (if applicable): Potential clients
- Context/”rhetorical situation” surrounding this text: A tweet that shows support of a health issue, such as showing support when somebody comes out about their mental health
- Surface-level conventions: Regular grammar, emojis, exaggerated endings(!!!)
- Organization/structure: A sentence or two. There's a word limit
- Affordances: Gains favorable public opinion. Easy to do
- Constraints: A bad tweet can ruin reputation.
